About the designer, Pauline Clifford
Hi! I'm Pauline, I'm 26 years old and I live in Glasgow. I have always
been creative and liked things that were a bit different. It was about
five years ago that I started customising my own trainers but had
never done anything for anyone else.
I was working in a shoe shop in Glasgow, called Qube, when I met
a manager called Tina Sparkle, who, quite literally, inspired me to
'sparkle' too! Tina has a very unique way of motivating the staff who
work for him and he certainly motivated and inspired me.
One day, just over a year ago, while we were discussing all things
sparkly, I remembered that I had some Swarovski crystals left over
from a few years before when I had customized my own trainers. It
was then that a fantastic pair of cowprint Converse trainers caught
Tina's eye. So, I took the shoes home and sparkled the toes. The
finished result looked amazing! Tina loved them and wore them
constantly in the shop.
Customers would endlessly remark on them and want a pair of their
own, so I began offering to customise their brand new shoes and
StarSparkles was born. Since then I have customised hundreds of
pairs and have many happy clients.
It's amazing that now, even Paris Hilton is wearing her own
StarSparkle trainers. And she's not the only celebrity - look out for
StarSparkles on Gwen Stefani, Kelly Osbourne, Ashlee Simpson,
Britney Spears and Scarlett Johansson - to name but a few!
